Places To Eat

Eating Locally

These are a few of our personal favourites but there is plenty to choose from in Long Melford.  All of these are within walking distance.

The Swan Long Melford

Probably our favourite in the village, wonderful menu that changes regularly, and bar snacks if you fancy something light. Breakfast served from 9am daily. Nice outdoor seating with garden. Dogs are allowed in the Bar and garden but not the restaurant. Open fires in the winter.

The Black Lion Long Melford

A 15th Century inn at the top of Long Melford green, the bar is cosy with log fires in the winter, nice restaurant, again a lovely menu. Dogs are allowed in the Inn and garden.

Scutchers

Only open Thurs/Fri/Sat 12 noon – 2 pm & 6.30 – 10pm Last Orders at 8pm. The Seasonally produced menu, with the best locally sourced ingredients, caters for a wide range of tastes. And Nick’s own – home-smoked salmon is not to be missed. Really great place to eat.

Melford Valley Indian Restaurant

Melford Valley has been recognised by locals and nationally for its food and service, winning many accolades. Great to eat in or take away. It does a Sunday Lunch time Buffett which is very popular and starts from only £9 per adult making it great value.

Nethergate Brewery

Not a restaurant but a wonderful place if you like beer! Award winning brewery shop and tap room, somewhere to have your drinks outside. Open during daytime hours to early evenings, later in the Summer. They often team up with local artisan food producers who visit site and serve food, such as the very popular Mac n Cheese van who is always there on a Friday night.

There are plenty of other pubs in the village serving pub grub including The Crown, The Cock and Bell, The Hare and The Bull.

Dilly Dally

This is one of our favourites to grab a panini or wrap, good veggie options, take out coffee and cakes.

Long Melford Village Bakers

Wonderful cakes and breads, almost opposite the property. We visit every day we are there. Baked on site and often sold out by lunchtime!

Long Melford Fish and Chip Shop

Always great on the first night if you don’t fancy cooking! Great Fish and Chips.

Along the main road in the village there are plenty of pretty tea rooms offering breakfasts, lunches, afternoon teas.
